Driven
by local context, local needs and local leadership, the exact focus of
each A Rocha project varies--ranging from gardens and farms, to
watershed protection, to habitat restoration and more. Regardless the
focus, each project carefully studies the situation, educates people
about the situation and provides hands-on opportunities for people to
get involved in conserving God's creation in that situation.
Working on 40 beautiful acres in the foothills, A Rocha is tending a 3-acre organic farm, conducting pollinator studies, planting natives, conserving a stream and riparian areas, conducting educational programs, and more.
The SLO A Rocha group is working with local churches and the Land Conservancy to promote environmental education among school-aged children in San Luis Obispo County through a yearly Creation Care Camp as well as the Learning Among the Oaks program.
Here in the northwest corner of Washington State, A Rocha is tending several organic gardens in partnerships with churches and launching a major initiative to clean and restore the Bertrand Creek and Fishtrap Creek watersheds--important spawning grounds for endangered salmon.
In the hills west of Austin and north of San Antonio, A Rocha is making plans with a landowner to help restore and protect the headwaters of a major river and protect habitat for the endangered Golden Cheeked Warbler and Black Capped Vireo.
A Rocha is working with a seminary and others to launch a major watershed protection project.
This A Rocha Associate project tends a six-acre community garden, permaculture and creation care project.
